Work Experience

Liberty Classical Schools

Marketing Manager
June 2022 - Present
Atlanta, GA

After building the communications department at Atlanta Classical Academy and supporting the outreach and launch efforts for Northwest Classical Academy, I was asked to join Liberty Classical Schools, a start-up formed by the founder of ACA and NCA. Liberty is a charter management organization that launches and operates K-12 classical public charter schools across Georgia.

My position at Liberty is two-fold. First, I support and consult with our partner schools (ACA and NCA). I provide support in the areas of social media, graphic design, web design and maintenance, media relations, fundraising, teacher recruitment, photography, event marketing and planning, and parent communications. A few things I have done for our schools that I am particularly proud of are:

  • ACA 10th anniversary feature in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

  • Mascot and school spirit branding and design development for NCA

  • Print and digital viewbook created for the ACA capital campaign — this piece was presented to high-level donors and contributed to ACA reaching 40% of their total goal in the first 6 months of the campaign

In addition to the support I offer to our partner schools, I also serve as marketing manager for the Liberty organization itself. I developed Liberty’s logo and visual identity, working to visually link ourselves to our partner schools without looking like a school ourselves. I worked with a web design firm to create all content and design for Liberty’s website. I launched all of Liberty’s social media and have seen steady growth through both organic posts and paid ads. I created the 65-slide deck that the Liberty leadership presented to the Charter School Growth Fund, securing a place in their prestigious portfolio and funding for Liberty’s next three schools. I organized and promoted nearly 20 in-person information sessions across north Georgia in Liberty’s proposed expansion areas. Primarily through paid social ads, I collected approximately 900 signatures on two separate school expansion petitions in three months, and in tandem, grew Liberty’s email subscriber audience from 0 to 2,500 in six months. I planned, promoted, and executed Liberty’s first marquee event in partnership with The King Center in October 2023.

Atlanta Classical Academy

Communications Manager
August 2019 - June 2022
Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Classical Academy (ACA) is a classical charter school located in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. I joined ACA in its 6th year as its first Communications Manager; before I joined the organization, my job was done by a committee of six parent volunteers.

My first major project as Communications Manager was to oversee the final stages of a major website redesign. After the redesign, I oversaw and executed all website maintenance, content creation, site organization, and UX design. I also regularly worked with our external developer to make backend updates as I saw fit.

I developed and designed all of the school’s front-facing collateral, including items related to enrollment marketing, faculty and staff recruitment, athletics, advancement, athletics, fine arts, and all school events. I managed all school-wide communications to parents and families. This involved developing communications plans for individual departments as well as the organization as a whole. I oversaw parent volunteers who created the weekly announcement newsletter. I also created the monthly partner newsletter for school families and community members. Managing school communications also required list management for various audiences through MailChimp.

I created and implemented social media strategies for all of ACA’s channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.) When I started at ACA, the school’s Instagram had around 300 followers. I grew the follower count by nearly 1000 in just under a year.

In the fall of 2020, Atlanta Classical Academy acquired a school building in Kennesaw, GA and announced their plans for a K-6 sister school, set to open its doors to over 500 students in August 2021.

As a member of the Northwest Classical Academy (NCA) outreach team, I developed brand standards and created the school’s logo based on the Atlanta Classical logo. I created all enrollment marketing materials, assisted in PR efforts in the area, helped to organize and execute Preview Days for prospective families, assisted in both organic and paid social media strategy, and built the NCA website in Squarespace.

From January to June of 2019, I worked as the Temporary Communications Coordinator at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, TN. In this position, my primary responsibilities were in graphic design and content development. I was responsible for conceiving and designing all print and digital ads for the museum, including web banners, playbill ads, and billboards. I was also responsible for the print materials that came from the museum. I designed postcards, a family activity guide that every visitor received upon visiting, reports for museum board meetings, the quarterly member magazine, and other brochures and flyers that are offered to museum guests.
